Townsville Collective
About
Overview & Vibe
Townsville Collective is the events arm of the Palmer Street precinct in South Townsville — a purpose-built conference and function centre selling ten named spaces, from a 12-seat boardroom to a Grand Ballroom that takes 500. The style is hotel-formal rather than rustic: panelled walls, chandeliers, built-in bars and full AV in every room. It is the choice for a large, city, all-under-one-roof wedding in North Queensland.
Setting & Style
The Grand Ballroom combines the Savoy, Kingston and Raffles rooms into a single space with private street entry, its own foyer, a fully equipped bar and two built-in projectors. Smaller weddings take Portside, Savoy or Raffles individually. Ceremonies are held in the Poolside Garden, at the foyer fireplace, in the Grand Ballroom itself, or on the balcony overlooking Palmer Street.
Ideal For
Couples who want scale and logistics handled — a guest list in the hundreds, catering, bar, AV and accommodation all contracted through one team. It suits city weddings and destination weddings where most guests fly in, and it is one of very few venues in the region that can seat 350 at a banquet.
The Need-to-Knows
Venue hire is priced by season, and the dry season costs more. April to October runs $1,500 / $2,500 / $3,500 depending on guest count; November to March drops to $1,000 / $2,000 / $3,000. A ceremony is a $500 add-on and includes 48 banquet chairs. Catering is separate and starts at $55 a head for a plated main. Every package includes 8.5 hours of exclusive hire from 3pm to 11:30pm, a complimentary night at a partner hotel, and a block of rooms held for guests. Note that three of the ten spaces are accessed through neighbouring Palmer Street properties rather than the Collective's own building.
Standout Feature
The seasonal pricing, which is unusual enough to plan around: a November-to-March wedding saves $500 on venue hire at every package tier. That is the tropical wet season, so it is a genuine trade — but for an entirely indoor, air-conditioned venue, the weather matters far less than it would anywhere with an outdoor reception.
