Wedding Photographers · Hobart, Tasmania · By appointment
Island Light Photography is a Tasmanian photographer who came to the island in 2019 after a career that began in television documentary and ran through twenty-five years of commercial work. Weddings are one of several lines he shoots, and the wedding work is unhurried and observational rather than staged — his own three words for it are candid, timeless, and memories forever.
Documentary in the literal sense: he made documentaries before he made photographs, and the same instinct shows in weddings shot as they happen. The Tasmanian landscape does a lot of the work in his images — he named the business as a homage to the light on the island, having grown up on another one.
Couples marrying in Tasmania who want a photographer at ease anywhere from a beach to a vineyard to a farm shed, and couples at either end of the scale: the two-hour package is built for elopements and registry weddings, and the eight-hour one covers getting ready through to the dance floor.
Three wedding packages, all priced and all with an image count attached: two hours from $650 with 50 to 75 edited images, five hours from $1,650 with 350 to 500, and eight hours from $2,500 with 650 to 1,000. He also shoots commercial, portrait, documentary and event work, and sells prints through an online store, so wedding photography is one part of a broader practice rather than the whole of it.
He publishes an edited-image count against every package, which is unusual and genuinely useful — you know before booking roughly how many finished photographs you are buying, not just how many hours.
