Eight Acres is a boutique wedding and accommodation property under towering eucalypts on Colquhoun Road, minutes from Lakes Entrance and the Gippsland Lakes. It sells one thing and sells it clearly: a wedding weekend, not a wedding day. You take the whole property Friday to Sunday, guests sleep on site, and nobody checks out at midnight.
Setting & Style
Ceremony on the lawn beneath the gums, canapes at a converted caravan bar under festoon lights, then into the Wedshed — 105 square metres that can run as a long seated dinner on timber trestles or a cocktail evening with wine barrels and lounge settings, with a pergola alongside for undercover mingling. The rest of the eight acres is a pool with cabanas, a games garden, fire pits, a kids’ playground and farm animals the guests can feed.
Ideal For
Up to 150 guests, with 55 beds on site across seven farm cottages and an eco-glamping village. Couples who want to build the day themselves will like it: the venue calls itself “an inviting blank canvas” and expects you to bring your own caterer, stylist, florist and photographer — there is room for food trucks, and a published list of local vendors who have worked here before.
The Need-to-Knows
Nothing is priced publicly. Venue hire is quoted to your date, guest numbers and the length of weekend you want; a $1,000 deposit holds the date and the balance can be paid in quarterly instalments. Dates are released as whole weekends and the venue publishes its live availability list — peak season is September to April, low season June to August on request. The glamping tents are for ages 5 and over and their amenities are shared in the Pool House; four of the seven cottages are pet-friendly, for a fee.
Standout Feature
The recovery day. A third night is offered subject to availability, and the venue has built a whole morning-after service around it — grazing breakfast, Bloody Marys and barista coffee by the pool — on the theory that “the best conversations happen the day after”. Most venues end at the send-off; this one plans for the hangover.
