Claimed profile
Envious Bridal & Formal is a custom-made specialist in Subiaco, founded by Yen after her own search for a wedding dress. Every one of its 400-odd gowns is its own label, and the proposition is stated plainly: bespoke quality at an affordable price. The bridal side is a by-appointment studio; ball and formal dresses are sold online.
153 wedding dresses, all Envious’ own label, tagged by style so a bride can shop by shape or fabric: A-line, ball gown, mermaid, sheath, lace, tulle, chiffon, satin, silk, off-the-shoulder, long sleeve, low back, backless, illusion and minimalist. Two categories are unusual enough to name — a Colour Wedding Dresses range and a set of black wedding dresses, alongside bohemian and beach collections and a mini-dress range. Bridesmaid and formal wear run to another 230-odd pieces.
The plus-size bride, and the bride who does not want white. The published size ladder runs AU XS/6 to 6XL/26 with the surcharge for each larger size stated up front rather than quoted on request, and a fully custom size is offered as a priced option. Between that, the colour and black ranges, and gowns this is an unusually accessible range on both size and budget.
Bridal and bridesmaid services are by appointment; ball and formal dresses are not available to try in store at all and are sold exclusively online. A custom gown runs a published six-step process — design consultation, fabric selection, in-production review, first fitting, adjustments, final fitting — on a typical timeline of four to eight months, with rush options depending on the design. Having the dress made to exact body measurements rather than a standard size is available for an additional charge. The store is candid that custom is not the right route if you want a gown.
Size pricing is published, not negotiated. XL/16 adds 3XL/18 adds 4XL/20 adds 5XL/22 adds and 6XL/24 adds — and a custom size adds. Most bridal retailers make a plus-size bride ask what her size will.
