Penny Dormer started Wild Heart Flowers in 2009 as a wedding-only service, run from a home studio in Scarborough so she could build it around young children. She began her floristry certificates in 2003, but dates the interest back to being six years old in her Nanna Iris’s flower shop. The studio relaunched in 2024 with corporate and event work alongside the weddings, and she brings in freelance florists with twenty years’ experience each when a job needs more hands.

Style & Signature Blooms

She describes the house style as the spirit of a modern garden, running in two directions: bold, vibrant colour-clustered designs that make a statement, and softer classic arrangements with a timeless feel. Foliage goes into most of the work for depth and texture. Bouquet shapes are named individually - modern unstructured with reflexed roses and orchids, informal garden style, formal round natural-stemmed, natural-stemmed cascading, and fully wired trailing or teardrop.

Ceremony installation work is part of the offer, including arches and arbours, pedestal arrangements and ground features.

Hire pieces such as urns, pedestals and the white tower frame are supplied by the studio for the day.
