Overview & Vibe

Pete Battye has been photographing weddings across the South West of Western Australia for more than twenty-five years, the last ten of them at a rate he counts in hundreds of weddings. He learned the craft over an eight-year career as a Royal Australian Air Force photographer, then spent years as a travel photographer in Europe and Asia before coming home. He is accredited with the Australian Institute of Professional Photography.

Style & Approach

Natural, candid and timeless, shot in what he calls a relaxed, fun, genuine and unobtrusive manner. He moves constantly rather than working from one spot, and is candid about why: you have invested too much for your photographer to shoot the whole ceremony from the same angle. Posed group shots are offered rather than imposed.

Couples marrying anywhere between Bunbury and Augusta who want an experienced photographer with deep local knowledge, he lives in Dunsborough, knows the venues and suppliers, and will suggest locations. Also for couples who want to hold the files themselves: every image comes with full printing rights.

The Need-to-Knows

Pricing is quoted rather than published, and packages are built to the individual wedding. The standard package covers the day from getting ready through to the reception and delivers four to five hundred retouched high-resolution images on disc, free of copyright restrictions, plus low resolution and black-and-white copies. Albums, proof books and slideshows are optional extras.
