About
Overview & Vibe
Design by B is Brooke Osland's atelier on Wood Street in Adamstown, Newcastle — “custom fashion design & alterations for the aisle or the boardroom.” It is a studio rather than a shop: a fitting space where gowns are made, remade and altered, and where she also tailors suits and teaches sewing. Her own line on it: “I feel very lucky to have this luxury in life to do what I truely love.”
Dress Styles & Designers
No labels stocked — gowns are made to measure to the bride's own design, and the published portfolio names the brides rather than the styles: a silk-satin corseted reception dress, a bow-detailed gown for a Croatian destination wedding, a custom veil. She also works on other houses' gowns, with Prea James and Kyha pieces reworked in her portfolio.
Ideal For
The bride who wants a gown designed with her, the bride with a gown that needs serious reworking, and — unusually — the bride with an heirloom. Her re-make and upcycle service is pitched straight at it: “Have you got your mothers, grandmothers or even a funky Op shop find?” Everything is made “slowly, consciously and as ethically as possible”, and she frames the upcycling as minimising fast fashion. Also for the couple wanting both sides dressed — she has tailored David Jones suits for close to four years.

Standout Feature
Almost no Australian couture atelier publishes a starting figure at all, and the three-tier split means a bride can see immediately whether her heirloom project and her budget are in the same conversation before she books.
Appointment Policy
