Overview & Vibe

A working cattle property 30 km west of Mackay that hires itself out whole. Note Park runs premium grass-fed beef into the local community the rest of the year; for a wedding you get the entire place to yourselves — rolling green hills, grazing cattle, valley views and, as the venue puts it, “amazing sunsets”. Owner-manager Joe Attard answers the phone himself, usually within a day, sometimes from the tractor.

Setting & Style

The reception space is a fully covered al-fresco dining and entertainment area — a big open-sided shed with panoramic views, strung with lights and warmed by fire pits once the evening turns. There is open lawn beside it if you need more room, and the venue’s own photographs show ceremonies out under the gum trees, oak-barrel bars, long timber tables and a bridal party in front of the property sign. Away from the town lights the sky does most of the decorating.

Ideal For

Couples who want a genuine country property rather than a function room, who like the idea of choosing their own caterer and running the day their own way, and whose guest list runs anywhere up to 200.

The Need-to-Knows

This is a venue-hire venue, not a catering venue. Note Park supplies the site, the furniture and the bar — you bring the caterer. Its own framing is that “a BYO venue gives you even more freedom and can save you a lot of money”. Budget for food separately; there is no per-head figure to compare against other venues.
Three hire tiers, all published. Venue Hire $4,800 (30 stools, 4 oak barrels, 2 timber slabs on barrels, rubbish removal, ensuite toilet block); Package One $5,400 (adds 60 chairs, 8 tables, a coldroom and a glass-front fridge); Package Two $6,300 (120 chairs, 15 tables, 8 oak barrels, 2 fire pits). A 50% deposit secures the date.
Alcohol is the venue’s, and this one is not negotiable. Note Park is licensed and drinks are served by RSA-qualified staff. No guest eskies, stated twice on the site and again in the brochure.
Everything else is priced à la carte if you want to build your own tier: arbour $100, swing $250, fire pits $50 each (wood not included), oak barrels $50 each, chairs and bar stools $5 each, tables seating ten $35 each, coldroom $300, glass-door fridge $100, freezer $150.
Guests can stay on site — in caravans. There are RV sites with wide open space and a communal open fire. There is no built accommodation.
Viewing is by appointment only. It is a working farm with cattle on it, not a venue with an open cellar door.
The street number is in the brochure, not on the website. The site gives only “Barrie Lane, Homebush”; the brochure’s back page gives 267 Barrie Lane, Homebush QLD 4740.
