Shamrock Hotel Mackay

Capacity: Up to 150

About

Overview & Vibe

The Shamrock Hotel sits on Nebo Road, minutes from the Mackay CBD and the airport. It is a working pub with three function spaces attached, and it is one of the very few venues in this database that publishes every price and every capacity four wedding packages, two ceremony packages, room hire, platters and canapés, all itemised.

Setting & Style

The main room is The Pavilion, set apart from the hotel: “the beautiful wooden exposed beams give the room a warm and unique atmosphere, differentiating it from most other venues in Mackay.” Its own photographs show long tables with gold candelabras running under draped ceilings and chandeliers. The Outdoor Terrace is fully undercover with overhead sails and planted beds, and the Garden View is a small, air-conditioned room with its own bar.

Ideal For

Couples anywhere between 15 and 150, who would rather compare real numbers than book a site inspection to find out what a venue. Everything is on one site — ceremony, reception and a room for the night — and every package includes the couple’s accommodation.

The Need-to-Knows

Room hire and a minimum food-and-beverage spend are charged on top of the per-head package for the Pavilion or the full Terrace, for the Garden View or half Terrace — and the minimum spend itself is never stated. Note also the package minimums: 50 guests for the Diamond, Emerald and Canapé packages, and 15 for the Intimate. The ceremony packages are separate again, and the Terrace ceremony is restricted to 3.30pm–5.30pm.

Standout Feature

The published detail. A 2024 wedding pack gives capacities for all three rooms, four costed packages, two ceremony packages, and every platter and canapé priced individually. For a couple building a budget rather than an enquiry list, that is worth more than most venues’ photography.

The Building Has Already Said Yes

A venue will say yes to your ceremony on the phone. Whether the kitchen, the room and the price list were built for it is a different question, and it was answered in writing long before you rang.
