Pikes is a winery, brewery and restaurant on the Polish Hill River Estate at Sevenhill in the Clare Valley, established in 1984 and now spanning 100 hectares. Catering comes from SLATE Restaurant, the estate's own hatted kitchen, and the bar pours estate-grown wine alongside Pikes Beer Co craft beer.
Setting & Style
A wedding here moves through the property: vows on The Pikes Lawn, pre-dinner drinks in the Beer Co garden or on the Slate Deck, then the reception inside Slate Restaurant with its deck over the vineyards. There is also The Pruner's Hut, a stone cottage on the hilltop with panoramic vineyard views, used for ceremonies of up to 20 or private dining.
Ideal For
Couples who want a Clare Valley winery wedding where the food is the restaurant's own rather than a caterer's, and who like the idea of the day moving between lawn, garden and deck.
The Need-to-Knows
- Venue hire is included in the package price. Cocktail is $95 per head, the shared menu $130, and the individually plated Estate package $160.
- The ceremony is separate at $2,000, covering 20 white Americana chairs and a garden arbour.
- Capacity depends on how much of the venue you take: the restaurant, deck and tasting room together hold 120 standing or 100 seated; restaurant and deck 100/80; the deck alone 40/30; and the Cellar seats 20.
- Drinks are $55 per head for four hours, or an open bar tab over five; extra time is $15 per person per hour.
- A $1,000 credit-card pre-authorisation confirms the booking, and is retained if you cancel inside 14 days. Final numbers and dietaries are due 14 days out.
- The Pruner's Hut is hired separately at $1,000, with private lunch at $220 per head.

- BOOKING POLICY: 'To confirm your booking, a $1,000 pre-authorization is required via credit card. Final guest numbers and dietary requirements must be provided no later than 14 days prior to your event. Cancellations must be made at least 14 days in advance.
