The only accommodation inside Freycinet National Park, on Great Oyster Bay with the pink granite peaks of The Hazards behind it and Wineglass Bay over the ridge. The lodge sells the setting rather than a ballroom: “Say ‘I do’ in our romantic national park setting or host a memorable event surrounded by awe-inspiring scenery.”

Setting & Style

Ceremonies happen on the sand — the lodge’s own photographs show an arbour set on the beach with the mountains rising behind, and guests seated on the shore. Honeymoon Bay, a sheltered cove a short walk from the rooms, is named as “one of our favourite locations for intimiate wedding ceremonies and elopements”. Receptions run indoors in a timber-trussed, glass-walled room, or outdoors at long tables strung with lights under the bushland canopy.

The Need-to-Knows

Every overnight guest needs a Tasmanian Parks Pass. “Yes, you will require a Tasmanian National Parks pass (entry permit) if you are planning on staying overnight at Freycinet Lodge, as we are located within Freycinet National Park.” Reception sells them — $47.70 for a 24-hour vehicle pass, $95.50 for an eight-week one. Day visitors do not need one. This is a real line item for a guest list.
No capacity and no wedding pricing are published. Both come by enquiry.
Accommodation is on site and extensive — Coastal Pavilions, Mountain Terrace King and Family rooms, Lodge King, Premier, Bushland, One Room and Family Cabins.
Three places to eat: The Bay Restaurant, Richardson’s Bistro and Hazards Bar & Lounge. Richardson’s closes over winter, with its menu moved to Hazards.
The event team handles the detail — “customised gifts, room drops, arrival drinks, and hot and cold towels.”
