Wedding Photographers · Hobart, Tasmania
Love and Thunder is Marty and Nickki, a husband-and-wife photo and film team working out of Hobart and across Tasmania. The pitch is that you book two people rather than two suppliers - the photography and the film come from one team with one vision, which in practice means nobody is competing for the same shot and nothing on the day turns into a production. Marty came to this from a prog rock band, and the work has a warmth that suggests he still enjoys a room full of people.
They describe it as fun, refined and story-driven, with genuine moments and natural direction rather than stiff posing. The galleries bear that out: confetti exits, a bridal party creased with laughter, a first dance dipped almost to the floor, and enough black and white to show a point of view. There is a quiet technical seriousness underneath - multiple bodies, backup gear and audio at every wedding - but it does not show up in the pictures as fuss.
Couples marrying in or near Hobart who want photography and film from the same pair, and who would rather be talked through the day than posed through it. They are a strong fit for vineyard and waterfront weddings, which is most of what their portfolio shows, and for anyone nervous in front of a camera - they make a point of saying most of their couples were, and then were not.
Photography collections start at $3,000, film at $4,000, and the two together at $4,800. Elopements are quoted individually rather than packaged. Travel is included within 50km of Hobart and quoted transparently beyond that. Expect several hundred edited high-resolution images delivered through a Pic-Time gallery you can download, share and order prints from; photographs land in four to six weeks and the film in six to eight. A signed contract and a retainer secure the date, and many couples pay the balance in instalments.
They do not sell albums, and they say why: album design and fine art printing are specialist trades, and rather than offer a one-size-fits-all product they leave you to order directly through your gallery. It is an unusually candid piece of writing on a wedding website, and it tells you something about how they think about the rest of it.
