Wedding Photographers · Hobart, Tasmania
Rosie Hastie is a Hobart photographer and artist who shoots weddings alongside a serious fine-art and commercial practice. She took a masters in photography at the Tasmanian School of Art, has exhibited around Hobart and taken an artist residency in Berlin, and her commercial work runs to architecture, food and events. Couples get the benefit of that eye without the formality that often comes with it — her weddings read as warm, loose and unposed.
Documentary and relaxed, in her own words: “less posing, more real moments”. She sets out to catch the big moments, the quiet ones, and what she calls the chaotic, emotional, hilarious in-between bits. No staged set-ups and no stiff formality — the aim is honest pictures of a couple and their people enjoying themselves.
Couples who want an unfussy documentary record rather than a directed shoot, and who like the idea of a photographer with an art-school background. She names a backyard barbecue, a warehouse party and a barefoot elopement in the bush as equally welcome, so small and informal weddings are squarely in scope. Her published work includes coastal and bushland ceremonies as well as receptions.
No prices are published anywhere on her site, and neither are packages, hours, album options or delivery times — every one of those is a conversation to have directly. She lists a mobile number and an email address as well as an enquiry form, and says she is open to assignments anywhere. Her wedding work is kept on a separate Instagram account from her art and commercial work.
The range of weddings on show is unusually broad for a small portfolio — a reception under umbrellas, a bushland ceremony, a windswept coast, a couple dancing in a lit archway, and a sunset walk through open grassland. Several are same-sex weddings, and elopements are explicitly welcomed.
