Sophie Sullivan has been photographing weddings in Tasmania for close to a decade, working from nipaluna, lutrawita — Hobart — and travelling all around the state. She photographs everything from big joy-filled celebrations to secret elopements in the wild parts of the island, and she is a teacher and a mother of two as well as a photographer.

Style & Approach

Her style leans photojournalistic for most of the day: she watches the day unfold rather than arranging it, and says the compliment she hears most often from couples and their guests is that she moves like a ninja and they never saw her take the shot. Portrait time is the exception, where she gives gentle direction to find good light — she is firm that there is no awkwardness and no over-posing, and that couples should end up enjoying it.

Appointment Policy

Get in touch as soon as you have a date, even before her books open.
If her books are not yet open she will add you to a waitlist so you get first choice when they do.
She is taking on a smaller number of weddings from 2025, so dates fill quickly.
If the weather looks poor, a session is rescheduled by agreement the day before or the day of.
If you need to reschedule for illness she asks for at least 24 hours notice, or the retainer is forfeited.
