About

Overview & Vibe

An exclusive event property on the banks of the Tamar River at Legana, ten minutes from Launceston, with panoramic views up the valley. Its original building — the tea rooms — was built in 1987 by a Japanese owner as a holiday house, along with the Japanese-style gardens and lake. Now family-owned and renovated through to 2023.

Setting & Style

Four ceremony locations across the property, a new pavilion with festoon lighting throughout, a bar with fridge and sink and an adjoining deck, the original tea rooms for intimate receptions, and a commercial kitchen with a large cool room. Ceremonies in the photographs run on a timber deck under a floral arch with the Tamar behind.

Ideal For

Couples who want three days of exclusive access and the wedding party sleeping on site — and who like being ten minutes from a city while looking at a river.

The Need-to-Knows

  • Four packages, and two of them exclude a building. The Tearoom package excludes the pavilion; the Pavilion package excludes the tea rooms. Only “The Whole Venue” gives you both.
  • Up to 150 guests.
  • Three of the four packages include three-day access to the estate; the garden-ceremony-only package includes one day.
  • Accommodation is included in three packages — one or two nights in two of the three cabins.
  • Chairs and tables are a paid add-on, not an inclusion: 120 chairs and 17 trestle tables are available for hire.
  • Nothing is priced. Every package routes to an enquiry form.
  • One cabin is wheelchair accessible — Grevillea, with grab rails and a shower seat.

A 1987 Japanese garden and lake, kept, with a new pavilion built beside it.

Price Notes

  • Four packages are published in full and none carries a price. (1) 'Garden Ceremony: This package includes any location in the gardens to hold your ceremony. Beautiful photo locations around the venue. 30 white chairs. Rest room facilities. Great alternative option in our pavilion. One-day access to the estate.' (2) 'Tearoom Wedding: This package includes your ceremony in the gardens, our stunning tea rooms to hold you reception and accommodation. Perfect for the more intimate wedding. The gardens. Rest room facilities. One nights' accommodation in our two onsite cabins (Pandani Cabin & Grevillea Cabin). Three-day access to the estate. *Excludes the pavilion.' (3) 'Pavilion Wedding: ...our new pavilion reception area and deck as well as accommodation. The gardens. Rest room facilities. Festoon lighting throughout. Bar under pavilion with bar fridge & sink. Two nights' accommodation... Three-day access to the estate. *Excluds the Tearooms.' (4) 'The Whole Venue: ...our beautiful tea rooms, our new pavilion reception area, and deck as well as accommodation. The ideal package to utilize our whole venue. The gardens. Commercial kitchen with large cool room. Rest room facilities. Festoon lighting throughout. Bar under pavilion with bar fridge & sink. Two nights' accommodation in our two onsite cabins. Three-day access to the estate.'
  • The Tearoom package is marked '*Excludes the pavilion' and the Pavilion package '*Excluds the Tearooms' (the venue's own typo). Only The Whole Venue includes both. A couple assuming the tea rooms are available as a wet-weather or supper option on a Pavilion booking would be wrong.
  • The commercial kitchen comes only with the Whole Venue package — it is not included with the Tearoom or Pavilion options, which matters if your caterer needs one.
  • Chairs and tables are an extra, not an inclusion, except the 30 chairs in the garden ceremony package: 'We offer a chairs & tables package to add onto your ceremony and/or reception at Tranquility Estate. Our aim is to make things more convenient for you on your special day, we have the following available for hire on the day: 120 White Province Dining Chair. 17 Rustic Trestle Table (240cm long x 81cm wide x 73cm high).' No price is given for the hire package.
  • Every package ends at an enquiry form: 'If you would like more information, please complete the enquiry form below.'
  • The venue supplies a commercial kitchen with a large cool room and a bar with fridge and sink in the top package, but names no caterer, no menu and no BYO position. These are the first questions to ask.
  • The property's history is published and is unusual: 'Our original building "the tea rooms" was built by a Japanese man in 1987 which served as his holiday house, he also constructed the Japanese-style gardens and lake. Now family-owned, the venue has been thoughtfully renovated with works completed in 2023, to serve as the perfect indoor/outdoor wedding venue and event space. The new building has unlocked the full potential of the property.'
  • The venue gives its locality two ways for the same address. It is 558 West Tamar Highway, Legana TAS 7277.
