Boathouse Centre Launceston
About
Overview & Vibe
A purpose-built function centre on the Seaport waterfront at Invermay, minutes from the Launceston CBD, with the Tamar River through the windows of every room and a deck of barrel tables looking across the marina to the hills. Modern rather than historic — natural light, clean lines and a big open-plan room that can be laid out however you want it.
Setting & Style
Two rooms and a deck. The Memory Maker Room is the main space, open-plan and taking up to 250 for a cocktail reception or laid out with long tables under festoon lights. The Boathouse Brews Room is the small one, a daytime coffee space that turns into a function room for up to 50. The deck runs along the waterfront for pre-dinner drinks.
Ideal For
Couples who want a city wedding with a river view and one supplier for everything — room, food, bar, music, staff and photography all come from the venue.
The Need-to-Knows
- The wedding package is a flat fee with a bar tab inside it. Mini Shebang, up to 100 guests, $10,000 including a $1,500 bar tab; Whole Shebang, up to 250, $15,000 including a $3,500 bar tab. Both include exclusive hire, canapés, pizzas and platter boards, black-tie waiters, AV, styling, a photography package and your choice of a DJ, acoustic artist or band.
- A seated dinner is priced separately and per head — two courses at $60 per person for 30–150 guests, plus $1,200 room hire, with a $4,000 minimum spend.
- Room-only hire is published too: Memory Maker Room five hours at $3,790 to 100 guests, $6,510 to 175, $8,870 to 250; Boathouse Brews Room $2,360 to 50.
- Events run five hours with a 4pm or 6pm start. Plan the timeline around that.
- Confirm which applies to your format.
- Catering is in-house and cocktail-led — premium canapés, wood-style pizzas and platter boards built on Tasmanian produce. No dietary policy is published, so raise requirements early.
- The venue markets dedicated Chinese and Asian wedding services on their own pages, which is unusual in this region and worth knowing if that matters to your family.
Standout Feature
A flat-fee wedding package with the bar tab, the band and the photographer already inside it — on the Tamar waterfront.

Boathouse Brews Room: 'Up to 50 people, 4pm/6pm, $2,360.' Add-ons listed for both: 'Drink on Arrival, Photography Package, Decorations.' A further catch-all: 'We offer custom bookings tailored to you at a minimum cost of $1,200... These could include expo's, dance classes, religious gatherings, memorials and wakes.'
- A seated dinner is the only per-head product: 'Dinner (2 Course), 6pm, 30-150 people, $60 per person, $1,200 hire cost, *MINIMUM $4,000 SPEND.' Its listed uses include 'Presentation dinners, Awards nights, Birthdays, Celebration dinners, Receptions'.
- Events run five hours with a fixed choice of start time - 4pm or 6pm for both function rooms in the brochure, while the website says the Brews Room has 'flexible start times from 3pm'. The seated dinner starts at 6pm.
- Catering is in-house and cocktail-led, with menus published but not priced. The cocktail menu is a pick-five list: prosciutto and rock melon tarts, scallops and bacon skewers, beef wellington bites, house-made arancini, melon and fetta shooters, pulled pork bao buns and salmon rillette.
- The venue markets dedicated Chinese and Asian wedding offerings alongside its general wedding service — the first venue in this directory to do so.
- A third package prices a corporate product at the same scale as a wedding - 'impress your client: Up to 150 people $15,000', including mimosas on arrival, live music, black tie waiters, a two-course alternate drop with matching wines and a photography package. Recorded for context only; it is not a wedding rate.
- Location and access are sold as part of the offer: 'Waterfront Views: The Tamar River becomes part of your celebration'; 'Spacious Parking: Just minutes from the Launceston CBD... with generous onsite parking'; and from the brochure, 'Deck Views: Revel in a breathtaking river view'; 'Ample Parking & Accessibility: Located moments from the CBD with ample parking.' The brochure includes a site plan showing the two function rooms, the bar, the kitchen, a meeting room, a foyer, a ramp and the deck.
