Glendale Vineyard
About
Overview & Vibe
Glendale is a hidden vineyard down a long gravel road at Sidmouth, in Tasmania's Tamar Valley: 140 acres of vines, farmland and wild bush, with a cellar door in an old apple packing shed. The wedding offer is built out of the same buildings — the reception venue is the shed itself, restored rather than replaced.
Setting & Style
The Orchard Shed is a timber, barn-style building originally built to pack apples, now the reception space. Ceremonies go wherever the property suits you — the venue names views over the dam, the mountains or the vineyard, and leaves the rest open: “we’re pretty confident you’ll find somewhere on the 140 acre property to say your vows in a setting that is just you.” Its own photography shows the shed strung with festoon light over long tables, and a chaired aisle set on the grass above the dam.
Ideal For
Couples who want a working Tasmanian vineyard rather than a function centre, and who like the idea of the reception happening inside a hundred-year-old farm building with the estate's own cool-climate pinot and chardonnay poured at it. The Orchard Shed takes 140-plus guests, so this is not only a small-wedding venue — but the property is remote enough that guest travel needs planning.
The Need-to-Knows
The site is also light on detail generally: no catering, beverage or BYO position is stated anywhere, no wet-weather plan is described, and the ceremony locations are named by outlook rather than as fixed sites — all worth settling early. Note too that the cellar door closes over winter for renovations and is advertised as reopening in spring 2026, so a visit needs timing.
Standout Feature
The Orchard Shed. Apples were packed in it; now it holds a hundred and forty people under festoon light, with the original timber still doing the work. A few metres away sits the historic cottage the couple gets to themselves for the first night.
