Halfmoon Creek is five acres of native bushland at Wandiligong, in the valley below Bright. It is completely off the grid — all its power and water come from a hydro system on the creek — and the venue is a barn the owners built themselves from milled timbers and recycled materials.

Setting & Style

The Barn has handmade timber trusses, a huge indoor fireplace and festoon lighting strung through it, with fire pits outside and a historic mud-brick cottage on the same land. Ceremonies happen out on the grass under the big trees; the venue’s own photographs show a log-bridge crossing of the creek, an aisle cut through the bush, and the barn lit up at dusk.

Ideal For

Up to 120 guests in peak season, 100 in the off. Couples who want the furniture problem solved: bentwood chairs, tables, bar stools, wine barrels, umbrellas, couches, cushions and ceremony benches all come with the barn, and so does a fully-staffed bar — glassware, fridges, a keg system and staff to set up, run it and pack down.

The Need-to-Knows

Beverages are BYO. The venue supplies the bar and the staff; you supply the drink. There are three packages banded by season — Crescent Moon (off-peak, May to September, max 100), Half Moon (peak, October to April, max 120) and Full Moon (peak, max 120, two nights and luxury amenities) — each including a stay in Moondance Cottage. No price is published; the pricing button opens an email. And the cottage has no TV and no phone service, which is either the point or a problem depending on your guests.

Standout Feature

The freedom, backed by actual kit. “The Barn gives you freedom to decorate the space as you wish”, and because the chairs, tables, barrels, lighting and bar are already there, the hire list most couples spend thousands on is largely already ticked off.

Three packages, banded by season. Crescent Moon runs off peak from 1 May to 30 September, up to 100 guests, with one night in Moondance Cottage and standard amenities. Half Moon runs peak season from 1 October to 30 April, up to 120 guests, one night in the cottage, standard amenities. Full Moon is peak season, up to 120 guests, two nights in the cottage and luxury amenities.
Drinks are BYO, but the bar and the staff come with the barn: a full bar set-up with glassware, fridges, a keg system and ice buckets, plus bar staff to run it, set up and pack down.
Furniture and styling are included — bentwood chairs, tables, bar stools, wine barrels, umbrellas, festoon lighting, fire pits, a huge indoor fireplace, couches, cushions and ceremony benches.
You can decorate the barn as you like, whether that is a specific theme or something simpler.
The venue does not cater. There is no kitchen, menu or food service, so catering is yours to arrange.
The property is completely off the grid, with sustainably built accommodation on site and all its water and power drawn from the creek through a hydro system.
