Phillip Island Winery
About
Overview & Vibe
A family-owned winery and restaurant on Berrys Beach Road at Ventnor, at the western end of Phillip Island, with a black-clad barn, a glass Atrium and five acres of lawn running out to rolling hills. It trades all week as a restaurant and cellar door — the wedding is a takeover of a place that is already busy.
Setting & Style
The Atrium is the room: floor-to-ceiling glass, exposed timber beams, a pitched glazed roof and the vineyard through every wall. Outside it, the five-acre lawn takes ceremonies and marquees, with a timber arbour set on the paddock. The cellar door, The Yards, sits alongside.
Ideal For
Couples wanting a relaxed island winery rather than a formal estate — the venue's own line is “we believe in keeping things simple and doing it well”.
The Need-to-Knows
- Nothing is priced and no capacity is published. Packages exist — “we've created a number of different package options” — but they arrive by email after an enquiry form. There is no brochure on the site.
- It is a working restaurant and the wedding closes it. The venue's own FAQ: “our venue closes at 2.30pm on some days for weddings & private events.” Normal hours are 11am–5pm Wednesday to Friday and 11am–5.30pm at weekends.
- No BYO at all. “We kindly ask that you don't bring any food or drink onto the premises at any time.”
- Allergies are handled carefully but no diets are named. The venue is unusually candid: “we can never be 100% that cross contamination has not occurred… If you have anaphylaxis or a serious allergy, please call ahead.”
- Access is honestly described rather than oversold. “We don't have wheelchair access as such, but there is access into all areas with a little guidance from staff”, using the grass, a gravel path and the side door. There is an ambulant toilet and two reserved carparks.
- Dogs are welcome — there is a four-legged kids' menu — and there are children's games and a kids' menu, but it is a working farm and children must be supervised.
- The vineyard was replanted about three years ago, so for now the fruit is sourced from Gippsland and the King Valley while the estate vines mature.
Standout Feature
A glass Atrium with a pitched glazed roof looking straight down five acres of lawn to the hills.

Price Notes
- NO PRICING AND NO CAPACITY ARE PUBLISHED. The weddings page ends 'Fill out the contact form below to receive our wedding packages and start your journey with us', and the FAQ confirms packages exist without giving any of them: 'CAN I HAVE MY WEDDING / ENGAGEMENT / 60TH / BAT MITZVAH / 21ST / WORK FUNCTION AT PHILLIP ISLAND WINERY? Absolutely! We love celebrating love and throwing parties so we've created a number of different package options for you to create your dream event. Head to our weddings & events page, submit an enquiry with all the details, and check your inbox (and spam folder) for a response from our weddings & event coordinator!' No guest number appears anywhere on the site. The only PDF on the domain is the restaurant's Autumn/Winter 26 a la carte menu, which is not a wedding document and was not used.
- THE WEDDING CLOSES A TRADING RESTAURANT, AND THE VENUE SAYS SO: 'Please note, our venue closes at 2.30pm on some days for weddings & private events. Please check our social media for updates.' Published hours are 'The winery gates is open for visitors from 11am, until 5pm Wednesday - Friday. On Saturday & Sunday, we are open from 11am to 5.30pm', with the restaurant 11.30am-4pm Wednesday to Sunday and The Yards cellar door 11am-5pm or 5.30pm.
- NO BYO OF ANY KIND: 'CAN I BYO FOOD AND DRINK? We kindly ask that you don't bring any food or drink onto the premises at any time. We have a bar stocked full of a range of beverages, and a fully operational kitchen serving incredible food for you to enjoy.' Beyond wine the bar carries 'beer (including some local treasures), spirits, cocktails and non-alcoholic options'.
- THE ALLERGY ANSWER IS CANDID AND IS NOT A LIST OF SUPPORTED DIETS: 'ARE YOU ALLERGY FRIENDLY? We do our absolute best and take the upmost care when it comes to all allergies and dietary requirements. However, we do use a lot of ingredients in our kitchen that may be allergens to some. Therefore, while every care is taken, we can never be 100% that cross contamination has not occurred before, after, or during food preparation. If you have anaphylaxis or a serious allergy, please call ahead so we can inform you of your options.' No vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free or dairy-free option is named anywhere, so dietary_options_supported is NULL - a warning about allergens is not an offered diet.
- ACCESSIBILITY IS DESCRIBED HONESTLY RATHER THAN CLAIMED: 'ARE YOU WHEELCHAIR FRIENDLY? We don't have wheelchair access as such, but there is access into all areas with a little guidance from staff. This may require use of the grass area, gravel path and the side door rather than the front door, but all detours are within close proximity to the main entrances... We have an ambulant toilet with easy access to the restaurant and The Atrium. We also allocate our closest two carparks for our customers in wheelchairs.' Worth surfacing for anyone with guests who need step-free access.
- THE PUBLISHED PHONE NUMBER IS INCOMPLETE. Every page footer gives the contact as '03 8595' - four digits short of a Victorian landline - alongside the full address and hello@phillipislandwinery.com.au. No complete number appears anywhere on the site, so phone_number is recorded NULL rather than as a truncated string.
- THE VINEYARD IS BETWEEN CROPS: 'WHERE DO YOUR WINES COME FROM? We replanted our entire vineyard around 3 years ago, which means we need to source our fruit elsewhere for at least the next 2 years. We are fortunate enough to have super clever friends in Gippsland and The King Valley who assist us in the supply and production of our wines in the interim.' The vines are real and the estate fruit is not yet, which is unusually straight for a winery to publish.
- DOGS AND CHILDREN ARE BOTH CATERED FOR: 'CAN I BRING MY DOG? Absolutely! We even have a "four-legged kids" menu. Our doggy friendly tables (and the lawn) are located in an outdoor area that is not protected in poor weather... We do ask that you clean up after your dog, and that they are always kept on a leash.' And: 'there's a kids menu, fun games and plenty of space to run and play. All we ask is that children remain supervised as we are also a working farm.'
