A cafe, bar and function room built out on the jetty at Newhaven, on the water at the eastern entrance to Westernport Bay. The venue claims 270-degree water views and the position backs it up — the Phillip Island Bridge on one side, the bay opening to the north, and the tide running past the building.
Setting & Style
Glass on three sides, a timber deck over the water, and a long bar pouring the house-branded Saltwater beers. The venue makes the changing water the feature: “The natural energy of the running tide rushing by the building high to low tides every 6 hrs creates a spectacular ever-changing scenery. With the occasional seal floating by, waves crashing on the sand bar – you can be assured to witness beautiful sea life at its best.”

Couples who want a waterfront reception on the island itself rather than a farm or a garden inland, and who are happy to work the detail out by email.

- Almost nothing is published. No capacity, no wedding pricing, no minimum spend, no named ceremony or reception space, no package inclusions. Budget on nothing until you have that package in hand.
- There is a dedicated weddings contact — weddings@saltwaterphillipisland.com.au — separate from general bookings.
- The kitchen caters properly for dietary requirements, on the evidence of its own current a la carte menu, which keys every dish for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free. That menu is a restaurant menu, not a wedding menu.
- It is a working cafe and bar, open Tuesday to Sunday from 11:30am till late, so the space is in public use outside your booking.
- Surcharges apply — 15% on public holidays, plus credit card surcharges, per the current menu.

- There is no capacity, no per-head rate, no venue hire fee, no minimum spend, no deposit and no package inclusion list anywhere on the site.
- Well inside the two-year window and therefore quotable, but irrelevant to a wedding: a couple cannot cost a reception from it.
- Two surcharges are published on the venue's menu and would plausibly apply to a function: a 15% public holiday surcharge, and credit card surcharges. Neither is repeated for weddings, so confirm whether they apply to yours.
- House-labelled Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Moscato are $11 a 150ml glass and $50 a bottle, with local Phillip Island and Mornington producers listed above them - Purple Hen, Foxey's Hangout, Polperro, The Gurdies.
- It is a working public café and bar rather than a dedicated wedding venue, open Tuesday to Sunday from 11.30am till late. The business describes itself restaurant-first: "Saltwater's mission is to put Phillip Island on the map as a great food and wine destination."
