Wedding Photographers · Mudgee, New South Wales
Kate Freestone photographs weddings around Mudgee and the Central West, and by her own count is in her sixteenth year of it. The galleries are the district itself: paddocks and dry hills, vineyards, a country church with stained glass, verandahs and hedged gardens, a bride on the back of a dirt bike, a couple in the rain under white umbrellas. A good deal of it is in black and white.
She does not put a label on it, and after sixteen years that reads as a choice rather than an omission. What she says instead is about people: *“I often get asked what my favourite type of photography is — and my response is simple: anything with people.”* Both her parents worked in welfare, and she credits them with the habit of connecting with people from all walks of life. *“Everybody has a story — I’d love to capture yours.”*
Couples marrying in and around Mudgee who want someone local with a long track record rather than a photographer travelling in. The three packages differ only in hours — five, seven or nine — so the choice is simply how much of the day you want covered, and extra hours can be added afterwards. She also shoots lifestyle, family, maternity, newborn, engagement, corporate and editorial work.
Packages run $3,600 for five hours, $4,400 for seven and $5,200 for nine, with further hours at $400 each and travel costs possibly applying. Every package includes a pre-wedding consultation, an online gallery with image download, and a USB of print-ready high-resolution images in a presentation box, edited in both colour and black and white. A fifty-page custom album with layflat binding and a slide-in case is $850 plus GST. Reach her on 0439 808 551.
Her background is press, not portraiture. She studied a Bachelor of Visual Communication at Western Sydney University, was the official photographer for two universities, and was the features photographer for the NT News — a job that had her photographing a former Prime Minister and, on another day, a sedated crocodile hanging out of a car window. That is a useful pair of reflexes to have at a wedding.
