Hawks Nest Golf Club sits on the northern side of Port Stephens, alongside Bennetts Beach and 500 metres from Hawks Nest Beach — an hour north of Newcastle and two and a half from Sydney. The clubhouse was refurbished in 2021 and holds two function rooms, both with a private bar, looking out over an 18-hole championship course.
Setting & Style
The View Room is the wedding room: 150 seated or 200 cocktail, glass along one side onto the course and out to a sheltered pergola, room for a band and a dance floor, its own bar and a projector screen with HDMI. The Green Room is the smaller option at 60 seated or 80 cocktail, with its own bar and TV. A 20-seat boardroom sits behind them. The club’s own photography of weddings is almost entirely on the course — bridal parties among the gums, long shadows across the fairway.
Ideal For
Coastal weddings between about 40 and 200 that want golf-course photographs without a resort price, and couples whose guests are travelling: the club runs an 11-seater courtesy bus Tuesday to Sunday evenings across Hawks Nest and Tea Gardens.
The Need-to-Knows
There is no ceremony space described anywhere on the site. A sheltered pergola is mentioned — but only as something the View Room looks out to, never as a place to marry. The functions pack comes by email after an enquiry form. And there is no accommodation on site — the club points to local options and its Stay’n’Play packages use nearby properties.
