Hopewood House
About
Overview & Vibe
Hopewood House is a privately owned historic estate at Bowral, eleven acres of established gardens around an 1884 residence, ninety minutes from Sydney.
Setting & Style
The house has been home to the Storrier family for decades — the artist Tim Storrier and his wife Janet — and it shows. The family's private sculpture collection is part of the landscape rather than displayed in it: works appear at the turn of a path, beside a pond, at the edge of a lawn. The gardens follow one guiding principle, that nothing should stand out because everything belongs. A wedding here is a private engagement in the fullest sense: the couple and their guests have sole access to the grounds, the ceremony spaces, the Pavilion and the estate cottages for the whole duration. There is no adjacent event and no shared space.
Ideal For
Couples who want an entire historic estate to themselves, and who would rather have an art collection and mature gardens than a purpose-built function room.

On Site Accommodation
- The estate cottages form part of the exclusive booking - the couple and their guests have sole access to them for the full duration of the celebration, alongside the grounds, ceremony spaces and Pavilion. The estate lists accommodation as a distinct offering in its own right. Numbers and configuration are detailed in the 2026 Wedding Compendium rather than on the website.
Price Notes
- Pricing and capacity are not published on the website. Both sit in the Hopewood Wedding Compendium, a 2026 document released on request rather than as a downloadable file, described as carrying full details on the estate, ceremony locations, inclusions and how to begin an enquiry. What the site does state about the commercial shape of a booking is the exclusivity: a wedding at Hopewood is a private engagement, and the couple and their guests have sole access to the grounds, the ceremony spaces, the Pavilion and the estate cottages for the full duration of the celebration, with no adjacent event, no shared space and no compromise. The estate manager, Holly, is the single point of contact from first enquiry through to the wedding day, and site inspections are by private appointment.
