The Gibraltar Bowral is a 78-room hotel and 18-hole golf course on the edge of Bowral, looking across its fairways to Mount Gibraltar. It is the Southern Highlands’ large-scale option: a place where the ceremony, the reception, the dinner, the bar and every guest’s bed are on one property. The style is contemporary hotel rather than country house — floor-to-ceiling glass, clean lines and big views.
Ceremonies go one of two ways: beside the lake, or inside the Gallery, which has double-height ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows over the golf course. Receptions move to the Grand Ballroom, which looks out to Mount Gibraltar and the Highlands beyond, with pre-dinner drinks on the terrace or in Harvey’s Bar first. The venue’s own photography shows long tables set against those windows at sunset, which is the room at its best.
Weddings where most of the guest list is travelling from Sydney or Canberra and needs to stay. With 78 rooms, a bridal suite, a golf course, a gym and an indoor heated pool, it works as a weekend rather than an evening. Spaces run from a 10-seat boardroom to 280 people, so it scales from a small dinner to the largest reception in the region.
Pricing is quoted on enquiry. The venue works to bespoke packages — “Every couple’s journey is unique and so are our wedding packages” — handled by dedicated wedding specialists, so cost is a first-conversation question. The venue offers menu tastings, so raise menus and dietary requirements there.
Having two genuinely different ceremony settings on one site. A lakeside ceremony and a double-height glass gallery are opposite propositions — outdoors and open, or indoors and architectural — and having both means the weather stops being a risk to plan around. On a Southern Highlands winter date, that matters more than almost anything else.
