About

Overview & Vibe

Midginbil Eco Resort is a 3-day, exclusive-use wedding property in the Tweed hinterland, between Byron Bay and the Gold Coast, near the World Heritage-listed Nightcap National Park. The model is unusual and it is the whole point: you hire the resort outright for a weekend, and your guests pay for their own accommodation and meals. Everyone stays on site for two nights, and the wedding becomes a weekend rather than an evening.

Setting & Style

The centrepiece is a genuine working barn, dressed with long timber tables, cross-back chairs and festoon lighting. Outside, the ceremony settings are open paddock and lawn looking straight at the Border Ranges — the venue’s own photographs are dominated by that skyline behind the couple. There is also a pool, tennis, and rainforest walks on the property.

Ideal For

Couples with a lot of travelling guests and a real budget constraint, who would rather spend three relaxed days than six formal hours. It is explicitly DIY — you style it, you bring the alcohol, you run your own ceremony — so it suits people who want control more than service. With beds for 150 across lodge rooms, safari tents, bunkhouses, cottages and camping, nobody drives home.

The Need-to-Knows

The cost structure is the thing to understand, and none of the figures are published. You pay one exclusive-use hire fee; guests pay separately for accommodation and a meal package covering a Friday BBQ, two cooked breakfasts and a light lunch. The venue states you need roughly 70 guests staying two nights with meals to reach its minimum charge, which is the real floor on the size of wedding this suits. Mid-week packages are 15% cheaper. Alcohol is BYO throughout. Everything else — actual prices, the information pack — comes only after you enquire.

Standout Feature

Two nights, not one. Almost every venue sells a day; this one sells a Friday-to-Sunday, and the structure — welcome BBQ, wedding, recovery breakfast — is built into the package rather than bolted on. For a guest list flying into Coolangatta, that changes the trip from an obligation into a holiday.
