McCracken Country Club spreads across 56 hectares above Victor Harbor, with an 18-hole championship golf course, a resort hotel and the purpose-built Victor Harbor Convention Centre at its centre. This is the Fleurieu’s large-format wedding venue: it hosts up to 300 guests and beds more than 200 of them on site. It was named Best Business & Event Venue in Australia at the 2017 and 2018 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.
Eight event spaces, all sized and all published. The Main Plenary Room is 308m² for 300; the Outdoor Pavilion is 147m² for 100 with garden and golf-course views; the Encounter Room and Baudins Restaurant take 140 over the course and the rolling hills. Hindmarsh and Flinders rooms scale down from 90 to 24. Ceremonies happen on the manicured grounds — the venue’s own photography shows an aisle of white chairs set beside a fountain with the resort behind. Everything opens out to the Pavilion and gardens.
Big weddings, and weddings where guests travel. Twelve room types run from spa rooms to four-bedroom villas, nearly all with golf-course views and spa baths in the ensuite, so the guest list and the accommodation list can be the same. The resort also runs a bar and grill, a restaurant, an indoor pool, spa and sauna, a gym, tennis and basketball courts, and it is pet friendly — a weekend rather than an evening. There is even helicopter access to the property.
The published wedding pack is from October 2021, so every figure in it — ceremony and reception hire, minimum spends, per-head menus — is more than four years old and should be treated as historical. Ask for current rates. The pack does establish the shape: reception hire runs to a maximum of eight hours, day-of-week pricing tiers exist, and minimum spends apply Friday through Sunday but not Monday to Thursday. The venue is cashless. On dietary needs it is candid rather than reassuring: it will cater to requests but states plainly that “due to trace allergens in our kitchen environment… we are unable to guarantee complete allergy free meals.” The resort is managed by Discovery Parks and Resorts, part of the G’Day Group.
The Outdoor Pavilion. A 147m² covered space that opens straight onto lawn and golf course, so a reception can spill outside without a marquee and a ceremony has somewhere to go if the weather turns — and it connects to every other room in the centre.
