A working paddock-to-plate farm at Ridgley, fourteen kilometres south-west of Burnie and set above the Guide River. It is farmed ethically and regeneratively, run by its owner Rachel and her family, and the pitch is exactly what it sounds like: “Want the rustic charm of a farm wedding?” Guests meet the animals. There are emus, pigs, sheep, chickens and cattle in the photographs, and they are not props.
Four spaces, and they scale a long way. Grazing’s Restaurant is the indoor one — floor-to-ceiling timber-framed windows onto green pasture, polished concrete floors and a rustic bar, seating 120 with a dance floor or 250 cocktail. Outside there are The Gardens (a garden green through a wisteria arch, sheltered by established natives), the Pergola lawns (a powered site alongside the restaurant, 60 seated and 250 standing) and Livestock Lane, which takes up to 500 guests and is, in the farm’s words, “the truest farm experience… surrounded by our friendly farm residents”.
Couples who want an actual farm rather than a farm aesthetic, at almost any scale from a forty-seat garden ceremony to five hundred down a lane, with the food grown on the property.
A lane through a working farm that seats five hundred, and a restaurant that grows what it serves you.
