Guide Falls Farm

North West Tasmania / Cradle Coast, Tasmania Capacity: Up to 500

About

Overview & Vibe

A working paddock-to-plate farm at Ridgley, fourteen kilometres south-west of Burnie and set above the Guide River. It is farmed ethically and regeneratively, run by its owner Rachel and her family, and the pitch is exactly what it sounds like: “Want the rustic charm of a farm wedding?” Guests meet the animals. There are emus, pigs, sheep, chickens and cattle in the photographs, and they are not props.

Setting & Style

Four spaces, and they scale a long way. Grazing's Restaurant is the indoor one — floor-to-ceiling timber-framed windows onto green pasture, polished concrete floors and a rustic bar, seating 120 with a dance floor or 250 cocktail. Outside there are The Gardens (a garden green through a wisteria arch, sheltered by established natives), the Pergola lawns (a powered site alongside the restaurant, 60 seated and 250 standing) and Livestock Lane, which takes up to 500 guests and is, in the farm's words, “the truest farm experience… surrounded by our friendly farm residents”.

Ideal For

Couples who want an actual farm rather than a farm aesthetic, at almost any scale from a forty-seat garden ceremony to five hundred down a lane, with the food grown on the property.

The Need-to-Knows

  • The pricing is real but it is dated 2024–2025. The farm's wedding compendium — still the only wedding document it publishes — gives a $3,900 venue hire fee, a minimum spend of $8,500 September to April and $6,000 May to August, and per-head packages at $69 / $79 / $99. The season named on its cover has passed, so treat every figure as indicative and confirm before budgeting.
  • Setting up is included and they want your decorations the day before. “Bring in your decorations the day before and leave the setting up to us. This service is included in the venue hire fee.”
  • No BYO, and the bar closes at 11pm. The compendium is blunt: “We do not provide cash out services / All drink service concludes at 11pm / Staff reserve the right to refuse service / We do not serve shots, doubles or jugs / BYO is not permitted.”
  • Match the space to the number — they are very different. The Gardens seats 40 (up to 150 standing); the Pergola lawns seat 60 (250 standing); the restaurant seats 120; Livestock Lane takes 500. The website's own summary compresses all this to “150pax indoors and 500+ outdoors”.
  • The restaurant's future is openly uncertain. Every page carries: “We are looking for a passionate foodie to take on our gorgeous paddock to plate restaurant.” Since catering is the farm's own, ask who will be cooking on your date.
  • The compendium download link goes to an empty page. Ask for it by email — hello@guidefallsfarm.com.au or 0460 549 568.

Standout Feature

A lane through a working farm that seats five hundred, and a restaurant that grows what it serves you.

Price Notes

  • ALL PRICING BELOW COMES FROM A COMPENDIUM TITLED 'Wedding Compendium 2024 - 2025' AND THAT SEASON HAS PASSED. It is nonetheless the only wedding pricing the farm publishes and it is still served from the live site. Recorded as INDICATIVE with the dating stated, and price_per_head left NULL rather than reproducing a lapsed season's rate as current - the same call made for Capricorn Caves' 2024-25 brochure in Batch 106 and Kellys Beach Resort's 2022-23 pack in Batch 108. CONFIRM EVERY FIGURE BEFORE BUDGETING.
  • VENUE HIRE AND MINIMUM SPEND, from the compendium's 'Grazing's Receptions' page: 'A venue hire fee of $3900 applies to all weddings. We also require a minimum spend of $8500 to ensure exclusive use of the venue from September to April and a $6000 minimum spend from May to August inclusive.' The seasonal split is $2,500 - a substantial saving for a winter wedding, and the same shape as The Apple Farm's May-September ceremony-fee waiver in this campaign.
  • SET-UP IS INCLUDED AND IS PART OF THE HIRE FEE: 'Leave your decorating and setup to us on the day! At Grazing's, we believe in keeping your day as stress free as possible. Bring in your decorations the day before and leave the setting up to us. This service is included in the venue hire fee.'
  • THREE PER-HEAD PACKAGES, all from the compendium's 'Grazing's Packages' pages, and all subject to the dating caveat above. FARM PRODUCE PACKAGE $69pp - 'Grazing Table, showcasing our in-house farm Charcuterie, antipasto, Red Cow Organics cheeses, artisan breads & crackers, dips, fruit & nuts. Carvery style spit roasts including 3 farm meats, roast vegetables & salads. Dessert grazing table covered in freshly made sweet treats. Tea & barista made coffee will be made available as part of bar offerings.' CANAPE PACKAGE $79pp - adds 'Canapes (Chef selection, minimum 5 pieces per guest)' and 'Canapes (1hr continual service, Chef selection)'. COMPLETE CANAPE PACKAGE $99pp - adds 'Glass of Champagne, local beer or cider, juices & soft drinks', '2 Light Entrees per guest (served as stand up style between Canapes)', 'Champagne for toasting' and a 'Tea & Coffee Station'. The chefs' framing: 'Our Chefs use the highest quality ingredients to deliver NW Tasmania's finest cuisine... Paddock to plate dining at its finest.'
  • BAR RULES ARE PUBLISHED AND STRICT: 'Please note: We do not provide cash out services / All drink service concludes at 11pm / Staff reserve the right to refuse service / We do not serve shots, doubles or jugs / BYO is not permitted.'
  • THE COMPENDIUM IS PUBLISHED AS PAGE IMAGES, NOT AS A DOCUMENT, and this is why two prior sweeps recorded the farm as having no capacity or pricing. The weddings page carries a 'WEDDING COMPENDIUM DOWNLOAD HERE' link to /weddingcompendium, and THAT PAGE IS EMPTY - navigation and footer only, no document, on three separate checks across Batches 120, 151 and 180. But the compendium's ten pages are all present in the site's own image library as 'Compendium Page 1' through 'Compendium Page 10' and render on the weddings page. Every figure above was read from those images. A couple following the download link still gets nothing; ask for it by email.
  • THE RESTAURANT'S OPERATOR IS BEING SOUGHT, and this is on every page of the site: 'We are looking for a passionate foodie to take on our gorgeous paddock to plate restaurant - if you know a chef or someone in the hospitality industry that is looking for that next big opportunity - tell them to get in touch.' Because catering is in-house and the packages above are the restaurant's, a couple should confirm who will be cooking. Flagged in Batch 120 and still true.
  • CONTACT IS BY PHONE OR EMAIL - the contact page is a form only. The functions page publishes 'call 0460 549 568 to discuss us hosting your next special event' and the footer gives hello@guidefallsfarm.com.au and 309 W Ridgley Rd, West Ridgley TAS 7320.
  • THE FARM ALSO RUNS PUBLIC EVENTS AND FARM TOURS in the same spaces - an events calendar, Easter egg hunts, school and large-group tours, and a Christmas produce shop - so a date should be checked against them.
  • NO STRUCTURED PRICING DATA. The site is Squarespace and carries no offer, price or priceRange for the venue.
