Eastford Creek Vineyard sits on a rocky outcrop at Sassafras, looking across Eastford Creek and out over the farmland of Tasmania’s North West Coast. The vines went in in 2018 on a patch of otherwise unproductive land; the property’s old Granary and Pumpkin Shed were reworked into the cellar door and the wedding barn.
Setting & Style
The barn is 22 metres by 10, corrugated iron and timber, strung with festoons and a chandelier, with a full-width window onto the vines. It seats 120 with room left for a dance floor and a breakout space. The venue is unusually clear about what it is: “a blank canvas for you to style to your personal taste” — and it hands you its own vintage chairs and solid timber tables to do it with.
Ideal For
Up to 120, and couples who want to style the room themselves rather than take a fixed look. The ceremony can go anywhere: the venue offers “access to the vineyard and site generally for your choice of ceremony location”, which is a rarer offer than it sounds.
The Need-to-Knows
Nothing is priced. Several wedding packages exist and every one is “available on request” by email. There is no accommodation on site, and no wet-weather ceremony alternative is named — though the barn is the obvious answer. Viewings run every Friday and by appointment. The venue also warns, twice, that its replies land in spam folders.
Standout Feature
The furniture is included and it is the venue’s own. A full collection of rustic vintage chairs, hand-crafted solid timber tables and fairy lights comes with the barn — which for a “blank canvas” venue is the difference between styling a room and furnishing one from scratch at hire-company prices.
