A heritage-listed 1890s winery on secluded farmland outside Rutherglen, six kilometres from the town centre. By 1903 it was the largest state-of-the-art wine production facility in Australia, with 280 hectares under Shiraz, Durif and Muscat — and its landmark is a three-storey French provincial tower built as a nod to the Burgoyne family’s European heritage. The vines came out in 1955 and the buildings sat until the Brown family restored the estate from 2016.

Setting & Style

The venue is the winery itself. The main winery building houses four main halls on two levels — raw brick, mud brick, steel trusses, clerestory light — and the estate’s own photography shows them run as long-table dining rooms under festoon lights and hanging foliage, with a grand piano and wine barrels in the room. Ceremonies go on the grounds around the 1903 buildings and the tower.

Couples who want a genuine industrial-heritage building rather than a barn or a marquee, and who want the whole party sleeping on site — six restored houses on the estate accommodate 48 between them.
