Millwood Lane
About
Overview & Vibe
A 1920s wooden stable on a working family farm at Coolamon, 35 km from Wagga Wagga, opened up as a reception space and looking out over sweeping green lawn. The approach is deliberately unfussy — “flexible, light-hearted and fun” is how the owners put it — and the venue is fully BYO with no corkage.
Setting & Style
Timber posts, corrugated iron and strings of festoon lights inside; outside, an arbour on the lawn with bench seating for the ceremony, rattan lounges, an outdoor dance floor and more festoons strung between the trees. Rolling hills and open paddock in every direction. Rustic in the literal sense rather than the styled one.
Ideal For
Couples who want to run their own day — their own drinks, their own caterer, their own plan — on a real Riverina farm, with the furniture and the bar staff already sorted.
The Need-to-Knows
- Fully BYO with no corkage fee. “We are a BYO venue with no corkage fees, allowing you to have more flexibility and choice for your budget” — but the venue supplies the bar staff to serve it.
- Nothing is priced and no capacity is published. The site describes one inclusive package and states it is “fully transparent, so you're aware of all costs up-front with no hidden fees or sneaky add-ons” — without printing the figure. Everything comes on enquiry.
- The furnishings are included and itemised. Indoors: the entire stable, indoor bar, cool room and ice, bar staff, generator, timber tables and bar tables, vintage Sebel chairs, glassware, tea and coffee, gift table, heaters, clean-up and pack-down, plus a run sheet and a Millwood Lane event coordinator on the day. Outdoors: festoon lights, tables and stools, seating, signing table and chairs, arbour, rattan lounges, an outdoor dance floor and toilets.
- The venue has just changed hands. “Today, a new chapter begins. As the new custodians of Millwood Lane…” — signed Jo and Jason Mattingly. The Contact page still lists the previous owners, so confirm who you are dealing with.
- The site is HTTP-only — the HTTPS address fails to connect. Not a reflection on the venue, but worth knowing if a link appears broken.
Standout Feature
A 1920s wooden stable, fully BYO with no corkage, on a family farm half an hour out of Wagga.

Price Notes
- NOTHING IS PRICED. There is no per-head rate, hire fee, package figure, minimum spend or deposit anywhere across the four pages of the site, and the domain serves no PDF. This is despite the Package page making transparency its selling point: 'Our inclusive package is fully transparent, so you're aware of all costs up-front with no hidden fees or sneaky add-ons.' The claim is about the absence of add-ons, not about publishing the number. Recorded as gated rather than not found.
- NO CAPACITY IS PUBLISHED EITHER. Neither a maximum nor a minimum guest number appears on any page. This makes Millwood Lane the FIFTH of Wagga Wagga's six venues to publish no capacity - Borambola, Magpies Nest, Rawson Park and Cottontail preceded it, with only Cottontail publishing a range.
- FULLY BYO WITH NO CORKAGE, AND THE VENUE STILL STAFFS THE BAR. From the Package page: 'We are a BYO venue with no corkage fees, allowing you to have more flexibility and choice for your budget.' From Our Philosophy: 'In addition to this, we are a fully BYO venue however, we provide staff to serve guests from our bar on the day.' A cool room and ice are in the inclusions, which is what makes BYO practical at a rural venue.
- THE INDOOR INCLUSIONS, VERBATIM: 'Entire wooden stable / Indoor bar / Cool room and ice / Bar staff / Generator / Timber tables & bar tables / Vintage Sebel chairs / Wine, champagne & tumbler glasses / Tea, coffee, milk, urn & cups / Clean up and pack down / Gift table / Run sheet and Millwood Lane Event Coordinator on the day / Heaters'.
- THE OUTDOOR INCLUSIONS, VERBATIM: 'Festoon lights / Tables and stools / Seating / Signing table & chairs / Arbour / Rattan lounges / Outdoor dance floor / Toilets'. Note the generator in the indoor list and the toilets in the outdoor list - this is a paddock venue with its own power and amenities rather than a serviced site.
- THE VENUE HAS CHANGED HANDS AND THE SITE HAS NOT FULLY CAUGHT UP. The Our Story page reads: 'Today, a new chapter begins. As the new custodians of Millwood Lane, we are honoured to continue that legacy while bringing our own vision to this remarkable property' and is signed 'Jo and Jason Mattingly'. The Contact page still reads 'Owners: Gemma & Brad Walker'. Both are the venue's own current pages. The phone number and address are recorded from the Contact page since they are the only ones published; the ownership discrepancy is noted rather than resolved.
- CATERING IS NOT DESCRIBED AT ALL. No caterer is named, no menu is offered, no dietary position is stated, and no kitchen is listed among the inclusions. Combined with the BYO beverage policy and the itemised furniture, the venue appears to be a hire-the-space proposition - but it does not say so in those words, and a couple should ask what the catering arrangement is.
- THE COUPLE RETAINS CONTROL OF THE PLANNING: 'While we manage the event from start to finish on the day, our couples have full control over the wedding ceremony and reception planning meaning they are free to customise the space as they wish.'
- A CRAWL NOTE FOR THE NEXT SWEEP. This site was recorded in Batch 154 as blocked - 'Resolves but TLS handshake fails to urllib (SSLV3_ALERT_HANDSHAKE_FAILURE). Needs a relaxed SSL context or Playwright.' Neither was needed. HTTPS fails under every context tried, including no-verify and legacy ciphers at TLSv1 - the host does not serve HTTPS at all - but PLAIN HTTP RETURNS 200 immediately. Media is likewise reachable: it is served as RELATIVE paths off the venue's own domain, '/uploads/8/3/9/9/83990324/...', which an https-anchored URL pattern finds none of.
- NO STRUCTURED PRICING DATA anywhere on the site.
