About

Overview & Vibe

A 1920s wooden stable on a working family farm at Coolamon, 35 km from Wagga Wagga, opened up as a reception space and looking out over sweeping green lawn. The approach is deliberately unfussy — “flexible, light-hearted and fun” is how the owners put it — and the venue is fully BYO with no corkage.

Setting & Style

Timber posts, corrugated iron and strings of festoon lights inside; outside, an arbour on the lawn with bench seating for the ceremony, rattan lounges, an outdoor dance floor and more festoons strung between the trees. Rolling hills and open paddock in every direction. Rustic in the literal sense rather than the styled one.

Ideal For

Couples who want to run their own day — their own drinks, their own caterer, their own plan — on a real Riverina farm, with the furniture and the bar staff already sorted.

The Need-to-Knows

  • Fully BYO with no corkage fee. “We are a BYO venue with no corkage fees, allowing you to have more flexibility and choice for your budget” — but the venue supplies the bar staff to serve it.
  • Nothing is priced and no capacity is published. The site describes one inclusive package and states it is “fully transparent, so you’re aware of all costs up-front with no hidden fees or sneaky add-ons” — without printing the figure. Everything comes on enquiry.
  • The furnishings are included and itemised. Indoors: the entire stable, indoor bar, cool room and ice, bar staff, generator, timber tables and bar tables, vintage Sebel chairs, glassware, tea and coffee, gift table, heaters, clean-up and pack-down, plus a run sheet and a Millwood Lane event coordinator on the day. Outdoors: festoon lights, tables and stools, seating, signing table and chairs, arbour, rattan lounges, an outdoor dance floor and toilets.
  • The venue has just changed hands. “Today, a new chapter begins. As the new custodians of Millwood Lane…” — signed Jo and Jason Mattingly.

Price Notes

  • Pricing is provided on enquiry. The package is described as fully transparent with no hidden fees or add-ons — that promise is about the absence of extras rather than a published figure, so ask for the number.
  • No capacity is published either. Neither a maximum nor a minimum guest number appears on any page. This makes Millwood Lane the FIFTH of Wagga Wagga's six venues to publish no capacity - Borambola, Magpies Nest, Rawson Park and Cottontail preceded it, with only Cottontail publishing a range.
  • Fully BYO with no corkage, and the venue still staffs the bar. From the Package page: 'We are a BYO venue with no corkage fees, allowing you to have more flexibility and choice for your budget.' From Our Philosophy: 'In addition to this, we are a fully BYO venue however, we provide staff to serve guests from our bar on the day.' A cool room and ice are in the inclusions, which is what makes BYO practical at a rural venue.
  • The indoor inclusions, verbatim: 'Entire wooden stable / Indoor bar / Cool room and ice / Bar staff / Generator / Timber tables & bar tables / Vintage Sebel chairs / Wine, champagne & tumbler glasses / Tea, coffee, milk, urn & cups / Clean up and pack down / Gift table / Run sheet and Millwood Lane Event Coordinator on the day / Heaters'.
  • The outdoor inclusions, verbatim: 'Festoon lights / Tables and stools / Seating / Signing table & chairs / Arbour / Rattan lounges / Outdoor dance floor / Toilets'. Note the generator in the indoor list and the toilets in the outdoor list - this is a paddock venue with its own power and amenities rather than a serviced site.
  • The venue has changed hands and not all of its material has caught up: "Today, a new chapter begins. As the new custodians of Millwood Lane, we are honoured to continue that legacy while bringing our own vision to this remarkable property."
  • Catering is not described at all. No caterer is named, no menu is offered, no dietary position is stated, and no kitchen is listed among the inclusions. Combined with the BYO beverage policy and the itemised furniture, the venue appears to be a hire-the-space proposition - but it does not say so in those words, and a couple should ask what the catering arrangement is.
  • The couple retains control of the planning: 'While we manage the event from start to finish on the day, our couples have full control over the wedding ceremony and reception planning meaning they are free to customise the space as they wish.'
