Pinctada McAlpine House
About
Overview & Vibe
Pinctada McAlpine House is an eight-room boutique retreat in old Broome — corrugated iron, white lattice, deep verandas and frangipani, on the corner of Herbert and Louis Streets. For a wedding it is taken whole: “the entire property will be yours”, with the only guests being your guests.
Setting & Style
A peaceful garden with “intimate nooks and enchanting settings – by the swimming pool, on the covered verandas and among the lush tropical gardens”. Inside, a long dining room under a pitched roof, a library, a lower deck, and original artwork in “the unique colours and textures of the Kimberley”.
Ideal For
40 seated or 100 cocktail — small and intimate is the venue’s own framing, not a euphemism. Eight rooms sleep up to sixteen, so the bridal party can get ready on site and the couple can take the McAlpine Suite afterwards.
The Need-to-Knows
The property takes 16 and over only — it caters “for adults (and families with young adults, 16 years and over)”, which rules out children at the wedding if guests are staying. Exclusive use carries a two-night minimum. And nothing is priced: the venue promises to work to your budget rather than publish a figure.
Standout Feature
The wedding coordination is free, and the venue is unusually explicit about what that means: “We will plan and coordinate your reception from start to finish… This complimentary service will allow you to sit back and enjoy this happy and exciting journey.” In a remote market where most couples import a planner, a house that does it in-house at no charge is a material difference.
