Sittella Winery
About
Overview & Vibe
Sittella is on Barrett Street at Herne Hill, half an hour from Perth, with the Darling Range escarpment behind it. The buildings are earth-rendered and Mediterranean — the winery's own phrase is that they “capture the essence of modern Italy” — and the whole thing looks out over its own vines to a lake and a rotunda.
Setting & Style
A restaurant and cellar door that becomes the reception: rendered walls, timber posts, and a long timber-decked veranda along the vineyard side that doubles the room and gives you somewhere to dance. Ceremonies happen outside on the lawns by the water, under a rotunda set among the vine rows.
Ideal For
Couples wanting a working Swan Valley winery where the food and wine are both made on site — and who can be flexible about the day of the week, because that is where the money is at this venue.
The Need-to-Knows
- Choosing your day is the discount. “On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the year, you can hold a function or wedding at Sittella for no room charge.” And “during the months of June, July and August, the midweek and weekend weddings are without room charge.” A winter Saturday costs no room hire at all.
- Three different guest numbers, for three different things. Receptions are quoted up to 150; full sit-down dining indoors is up to 70; adding the veranda takes it to 110. Which one applies depends entirely on your format.
- Per-head pricing has to be asked for. The winery refers to a function and wedding pack, but it is not currently available to read — so the room-charge waiver above is the only price you can check in advance.
- There is accommodation on site — the Vineyard Residence, an estate house sleeping up to 10, aimed squarely at bridal parties: “ideal for brides and grooms, family or close friends who want to stay together in one beautiful location.”
- It is a trading restaurant and cellar door, open Tuesday to Sunday — restaurant from 11.30am, cellar door 10am–4pm. Both are wheelchair accessible with ramp entrances. Weddings have a dedicated contact, Katie, at weddings@sittella.com.au.
- Wine and food are both made on the premises, and the menus are built by the head chef around the estate's own range.
Standout Feature
A whole winter of Saturdays with no room charge — and a ten-bed vineyard house to put the bridal party in.

Price Notes
- The one published price fact is a good one: no room charge on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays year-round, and no room charge at all through June, July and August — midweek or weekend. What the waiver is worth isn't stated, since no room-hire figure is published for other days, but a winter Saturday here carries no room hire.
- The winery intends to publish a function and wedding pack with per-head pricing, and links to it, but the file isn't currently reachable — so pricing has to be requested directly for now.
- Three capacities for three different formats, and they are not alternative readings of one number: receptions up to 150; full sit-down dining indoors up to 70; up to 110 seated once the timber-decked veranda is in use.
- The restaurant's à la carte list is separate from wedding catering and doesn't price weddings — but two house rules are worth knowing if you eat there: no split billing, and a 15% surcharge on public holidays. Whether that surcharge extends to functions isn't stated.
- The winery trades while you plan: the restaurant is open Tuesday to Sunday with bookings from 11.30am, and the cellar door Tuesday to Sunday, 10am–4pm. Both are wheelchair accessible with ramp entrances. Wedding enquiries go to Katie at weddings@sittella.com.au.
- The Vineyard Residence is described by the winery but booked through a separate accommodation service, and no nightly rate is published here.
