Sittella Winery
About
Overview & Vibe
Sittella is on Barrett Street at Herne Hill, half an hour from Perth, with the Darling Range escarpment behind it. The buildings are earth-rendered and Mediterranean — the winery's own phrase is that they “capture the essence of modern Italy” — and the whole thing looks out over its own vines to a lake and a rotunda.
Setting & Style
A restaurant and cellar door that becomes the reception: rendered walls, timber posts, and a long timber-decked veranda along the vineyard side that doubles the room and gives you somewhere to dance. Ceremonies happen outside on the lawns by the water, under a rotunda set among the vine rows.
Ideal For
Couples wanting a working Swan Valley winery where the food and wine are both made on site — and who can be flexible about the day of the week, because that is where the money is at this venue.
The Need-to-Knows
- Choosing your day is the discount. “On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the year, you can hold a function or wedding at Sittella for no room charge.” And “during the months of June, July and August, the midweek and weekend weddings are without room charge.” A winter Saturday costs no room hire at all.
- Three different guest numbers, for three different things. Receptions are quoted up to 150; full sit-down dining indoors is up to 70; adding the veranda takes it to 110. Which one applies depends entirely on your format.
- The function pack is linked but not there. Both the functions and weddings sections link a “Function & Wedding Info Pack 2025 onwards”; the file returns 404. So no per-head pricing is obtainable, and the room-charge waiver above is the only published price fact.
- There is accommodation on site — the Vineyard Residence, an estate house sleeping up to 10, aimed squarely at bridal parties: “ideal for brides and grooms, family or close friends who want to stay together in one beautiful location.”
- It is a trading restaurant and cellar door, open Tuesday to Sunday — restaurant from 11.30am, cellar door 10am–4pm. Both are wheelchair accessible with ramp entrances. Weddings have a dedicated contact, Katie, at weddings@sittella.com.au.
- Wine and food are both made on the premises, and the menus are built by the head chef around the estate's own range.
Standout Feature
A whole winter of Saturdays with no room charge — and a ten-bed vineyard house to put the bridal party in.

Price Notes
- THE ONLY PUBLISHED PRICE FACT IS A WAIVER, AND IT IS A GOOD ONE: 'On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the year, you can hold a function or wedding at Sittella for no room charge. And during the months of June, July and August, the midweek and weekend weddings are without room charge.' The weddings section repeats it. No room-charge figure is published for any other day, so what the waiver is worth is not stated - but a June, July or August Saturday carries no room hire at all.
- THE FUNCTION PACK IS LINKED AND RETURNS 404. Both sections link it - '.Download our function pack HERE' and 'Click here for Function & Wedding Info Pack 2025 onwards' - and both point at https://www.sittella.com.au/assets/client/File/SittellaFunctionPack2526.pdf, which returns HTTP 404. Four filename variants were tried and all 404. So the venue intends to publish per-head pricing and does not currently do so; price_per_head is NULL for that reason rather than because the venue declines to publish.
- THREE CAPACITIES FOR THREE FORMATS, KEPT APART: receptions up to 150; full sit-down dining indoors up to 70; up to 110 seated once the timber-decked veranda is used. These are not alternative readings of one number - they are three different things the venue says, and the right one depends on the format.
- NO DIETARY POLICY IS PUBLISHED FOR WEDDINGS, AND A KEYWORD HIT MISLED THE FIRST PASS. Searching the site for 'vegan' returns matches on every page, but every one of them is the string 'veganFriendly' inside the wine shop's JSON product payload - a field name on the winery's own bottles, all set to false - not a catering claim. Nothing on the functions, weddings, restaurant or cellar door pages states a vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free or allergen position for weddings. Recorded NULL.
- THE RESTAURANT MENU IS NOT A WEDDING MENU AND WAS NOT USED FOR PRICING. /wp-content/uploads/2026/07/WeekdaySetMenu22July2026.pdf is genuinely current - Word ModDate 23 July 2026, HTTP Last-Modified 23 July 2026, six days old at the time of harvest - but it is the a la carte restaurant list (entrees $25.00-$43.50, mains $39.50-$58.50) and prices dishes, not weddings. It does carry two house rules worth knowing if you eat there: 'No Split Billing' and a 'Public Holiday 15% Surcharge applies'. Whether the surcharge extends to functions is not stated.
- THE VENUE TRADES WHILE YOU PLAN: 'Our Restaurant is open Tuesday - Sunday. Bookings are taken from 11.30am. Our Cellar Door is open Tuesday - Sunday 10am - 4pm.' 'Our Restaurant and Cellar Door are fully accesible to wheelchair users with ramp entrances.' Weddings have their own contact: 'For Wedding queries please contact Katie via email: weddings@sittella.com.au'.
- ACCOMMODATION IS BOOKED ON A SEPARATE SITE. The Vineyard Residence is described on the winery's Accommodation page but booked through a linked accommodation website; no nightly rate appears on sittella.com.au.
