The Cove Tasmania
About
Overview & Vibe
The Cove is an adults-only oceanfront estate on Waverley Road at Don, ten minutes west of Devonport, perched on a headland above Bass Strait. Weddings here are sold as exclusive use of the whole estate for the length of your stay — accommodation, ceremony, reception and photography all inside the fence line.
Setting & Style
Dark timber and glass pavilions strung along a grassy clifftop, every room facing the water. The estate is tiered into four named wedding spaces: Villa Two Five Six for elopements, Lillico for micro weddings, Alexander — the Alexander Centre, a standalone pavilion — for cosy weddings, and Basalt for the largest. Secluded headland and rock-shelf photo locations sit below.
Ideal For
Couples who want the whole coastline to themselves and their guests staying on site — and specifically for an adults-only celebration, which this venue enforces rather than merely prefers.
The Need-to-Knows
- Four wedding tiers by size: Villa Two Five Six up to 6, Lillico up to 12, Alexander up to 36, Basalt up to 140.
- The capacity figures do not fully agree. The Basalt tier is advertised for “up to 140 people”, but the wedding FAQ answers the capacity question with “up to 60 seated and up to 120 for a Canape styled reception.” Both are the venue's own. Confirm which applies to your format before counting on 140.
- Adults only, and children are actively managed. “Children are allowed at the ceremony but must leave site 45 minutes after. Our site is not suitable for children due to the open ponds and steep cliff edges. We do not allow children to stay overnight.” If your guest list includes families, this is the first thing to resolve.
- Accommodation is for 13 couples including yours, and the wedding package grants private access to the entire estate for the whole stay.
- No pricing is published. The deposit is: 20% payable 30 days after reserving the date. The calendar typically books about twelve months ahead.
- A dedicated wedding manager and coordinator run the day; enquiry is by form.
Standout Feature
An adults-only clifftop estate above Bass Strait, taken over entirely — with the rock shelf below it for photographs.

Price Notes
- NO PRICING IS PUBLISHED. There is no per-head figure, package price, venue hire fee or minimum spend anywhere on the wedding or FAQ pages, and no PDF is linked. Enquiry is by form: 'We invite you to reach out to our events team to discover availability and begin crafting your bespoke wedding stay.'
- THE ONE FINANCIAL TERM PUBLISHED IS THE DEPOSIT: 'To secure The Cove for your magical day, we require a deposit of 20% payable 30 days after reserving your date.' A percentage deposit without a total is unusual - it fixes the shape of the commitment without revealing its size.
- LEAD TIME: 'How far in advance is your calendar booked? Generally 12 months in advance depending on the time of year.'
- THE CAPACITY FIGURES CONFLICT AND ARE RECORDED AS PUBLISHED. The Basalt tier is advertised as 'Luxury Weddings for up to 140 people'. The FAQ says 'The Cove Tasmania can cater for up to 60 seated and up to 120 for a Canape styled reception.' Nothing on the site reconciles 140 with 120. A plausible reading is that 140 counts standing across the whole estate while 120 is seated-canape service, but the venue does not say so. Confirm before planning to 140.
- ADULTS ONLY, ENFORCED: 'You are an adults only resort, are children allowed? Children are allowed at the ceremony but must leave site 45 minutes after. Our site is not suitable for children due to the open ponds and steep cliff edges. We do not allow children to stay overnight.' This is a structural constraint on the guest list rather than a preference.
- WHAT THE PACKAGE COVERS: 'Experience the rare luxury of total exclusivity. Our comprehensive wedding packages grant you and your guests private access to the entire oceanfront estate for your entire stay. From luxury sanctuary accommodations and curated reception spaces to secluded headland photo locations, every detail is seamlessly orchestrated by our dedicated team.'
